crown reduction.jpg

Crown Reduction

Reducing the overall size of the crown or reshaping part of the crown.

The process can clear the tree from unwanted interactions, allow more light to reach a desired area, and rebalance a tree, resulting in a more aesthetically pleasing form.

crown lift.jpg

Crown Lift

An alternative to a crown reduction which can also be a solution for allowing more light into your space. Involves removing the lowest branches of the crown.

Often a process carried out on trees beside roads or pavements in order to remove obstructions. The recommended height above the public highway is 5.5m and 2.5m over a pavement.

Crown Thinning

A very dense crown can have several detrimental effects.

●      Internal crossing branches can rub open wounds on the tree which may lead to infections.

●      It acts like a sail in the wind, causing stress to the main stem and may cause a failure of heavier branches or the whole tree.

●      It prevents air and light reaching all parts of the tree, causing unbalanced growth, as well as shading areas below the tree.

The selective removal of some of the internal branches can resolve all of these issues.

Tree Removal

We would always hope to achieve your desired effects with one of the above techniques, in order to retain your tree. However, when that is not possible, or appropriate, full removal is an option. This would be achieved with one of the following techniques.

clear fell.jpg

Clear Fell

If possible the tree will be felled from the ground in one piece, and then processed by ground staff.

section fell.jpg

Section Fell

When there are particular limitations, such as confined space, the tree must be taken apart in multiple pieces. This work is most often done by a specially trained tree surgeon climbing the tree, although it can also be carried out using cherry pickers or other access machinery.

rigging technique.jpg

Rigging Technique

If the tree is situated over an immovable or valuable structure or access is obstructed then ropes and rigging techniques will be used to control the decent of any material, preventing damage to property below.

stump removal.jpg

Stump Removal

The stump will be ground to a sufficient level to ensure that enough of the root system is dead and not allowed a chance to regrow.

Once the stump has been entirely removed the remaining cavity will be backfilled with mulch (grinding waste) or soil and any leftover waste will be cleared.
